What is it the Fast PCR test?
Fast PCR test is the last medical innovation available to detect SAR-Cov-2. For the patient, the performance is as conventional PCR test, obtaining the sample through nasopharyngeal swab (swab introduced on the nose/mouth).
The sample is processed with special technology, that accelerates the process to obtain the results in approximately one hour.
When it is recommended to perform PCR test?
Health Ministry advise to perform PCR test if you have severe respiratory infection with some of these symptoms:
- Fever
- Coughing
- Shortness of breath feeling
- Painful swallowing
- Smell loss
- Taste loss
- Muscle soreness
- Diarrhoea
When there are no symptoms but there was contact with a positive SARS-Cov-2 patient, or a situation that may generate doubts about being at risk of infection. It is recommended to perform PCR test at least two days after that contact or situation, because it is possible that during the first days the viral load is not high enough to detect it.
If it is positive the laboratory have to inform health authority, and have to contact the medical center to inform about the situation and follow protocols established by health authority.

Before visiting risk patients or over 60 years old, it is recommended to perform PCR test. All measures have to be considered to avoid infection in those risk collectives.
Before you visit your family or go to social events in close spaces with significant number of people, it is recommended that everyone take all measures needed and even perform a PCR test before the event.
